Where Is Honfleur In France?

france From France

Honfleur , France

Sitting on the quaint coast of Normandy, Honfleur is among the most picturesque places in France. Its rustic beauty has been immortalized in paintings by famous artists including Claude Monet, Eugene Boudin and Johan Jongkind.
One of France’s prettiest port towns, Honfleur was once used entirely for commerce (it was here that Samuel de Champlain set out to found Quebec City). Today, it’s beloved for its timber houses, old harbor, seafood and museums.
It really worth a visit if you love the ocean and medieval architecture. From the twelfth century onwards, it became an important crossing point for goods transiting via the sea to England.
This giant pot of steaming moules (mussels) sums up the fresh seafood and fish that's caught daily in Honfleur. We often see bikers whizz up the autoroute from Paris just for their Sunday lunch plate of oysters or mussels sold on the harbour!
Honfleur is classified as a seaside destination and tourism. Its seafront is located at less than two kilometers from the historic downtown area and is located at the entrance of the estuary of the Seine across from Havre. We find two beaches in Honfleur. The beach closest to downtown, Butin Beach, is the most popular.
