Why It Is Called Naqsh-E-Rosram ?

The reason for naming Naqsh-e-Rostam region with this name is based on old legends. According to this legend, this region was the place of confrontation between Rostam and Esfandiar and Rostam, the legendary hero of Shahnameh in this region, was able to defeat Esfandiar.

Naghsh-e-Rostam mountain has an ancient history and in its reliefs, the image of Achaemenid and Sassanid kings and historical relics of these two periods can be seen; But among the reliefs on the rocks of Naghsh-e Rostam, there is also a picture of people whose identities are unknown.

Among these people, there is a personal image of a hero with awe and a sharp hat. Unlike other images whose horror and clothing reveal their ethnic identity, this person does not look like any other tribe. In some sources, this image belongs to Rostam Shahnameh. Although there is no clear reason for the correctness of this theory, the name of this region is based on this position of Naghsh-e Rostam, and this name has been passed down from time immemorial and has remained on it.
