Why Was Azadi Tower In Tehran Built ?

irantravel From Iran

History of Azadi Square, Tehran
In 1350 AH, the 2500th anniversary of the emperor was supposed to be celebrated, due to the lack of a symbolic structure in the city of Tehran, the authorities decided to build the Shahyad Tower, and in line with the implementation of this decision, as well as choosing a suitable design for the construction of the desired structure, in In 1345, a competition titled designing a symbol for Iran was held among the country's architects, and as a result of this competition, Hossein Amanat, a 24-year-old Iranian architect, was selected as the best design. Another goal of the establishment of the Freedom Tower was to build a symbol for modern Iran and a gateway to the great civilization of the 20th century, and the design presented by Hossein Amanat, combining Islamic art and modern art, was considered the most appropriate design for building such a structure. For this reason, this young architect was responsible for the construction of Shahyad Tower or Azadi Tower. After choosing the design and the architect, the construction of Tehran's Azadi Square began in 1348 AH and ended after almost 2 years on Mehr 24, 1350.
It is good to know that at first the name of this beautiful tower was Shahyad, but after the revolution of 1357, it was changed to freedom in order to honor the freedom-loving cries of the Iranian nation, and today this magnificent structure is known by the same name all over the world.
