Zendane Soleyman - زندان سلیمان
It is always a great pleasure to visit some historical and cultural places as soon as there are not crowds of tourists and noise. The spring at the Takhte-e Soleyman looks great. The water is clean and cool. (If it can flow into the Urmia Lake, the problem of drying of Urmia might be solved! I am not sure!) The Zendane Soleyman (Soleiman's prison) looks nothing special. But if you walk to the top of the mountain. You will see the beautiful crater and smell the sulfur (not dangerous).
زندان سلیمان نام کوهی مخروطی‌شکل و میان تهی که در سه کیلومتری غرب تخت سلیمان قرار دارد. این کوه هزاران سال پیش، بر اثر رسوب کانی‌های آب دریاچهٔ آن به وجود آمده‌است[۱]. ارتفاع این کوه از زمین مجاور خود ۹۷ تا ۱۰۷ متر می‌باشد و بر فراز آن گودال عمیقی در حدود ۸۰ متر دیده می‌شود که قطر دهانه آن به طور تقریب ۶۵ متر است.
این کوه در زمان مانایی‌ها ـ ۸۳۰ تا ۶۶۰ پ. م. ـ نیایشگاه بوده است. در اطراف کوه زندان سلیمان چشمه‌های آب گرم گوگردی متعددی دیده می‌شود که دارای خاصیت درمانی متعدد می‌باشد.
