The city is sprawling – but the historic center is walkable and compact. Long ago two medieval towns, Gradec and Kaptol, merged; creating what is today's Zagreb city center. Many of the best sights are hidden in the Old Town Zagreb lanes. Strolling on foot is the best way to discover Zagreb sights.
