Since the reservoir was open air before the construction of the garden, the garden was named so. Another theory states that since the garden is built on a hill slope as a terrace garden, it was named Hanging Garden due to its structure. Well, whatever be the reason, it is still one of Mumbai's most beloved landmarks.
