Foreigners who are married to a Danish citizen may be naturalised after 6 years of lawful residency if the marriage has lasted and the spouse has been Danish for at least 3 years. After 2 years of marriage, the residence requirement is 7 years and after 1 year of marriage, the residence requirement is 8 years.
