About this photo

Kalemegdan fortress was built at the beginning of the first century as a palisade with earthen ramparts, to develop over the centuries into a Roman castrum (II century), a Byzantine castle (VI and XII centuries), a medieval fortified capital of the Serbian Despotism (XIII and XV centuries) and finally an Austrian /Ottoman artillery fortification (XVII and XVIII centuries).
Specifically, in this photo, I am on the part called Kalemegdans terrace, which offers a phenomenal view of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers as well as the large war island.
